From early morning till late evening, whatever the weather, the jetty is full of children with crabbing rods, nets and buckets, competing for who can catch the most crabs.
All you need is a piece of string, a clothes peg and a stone to weigh the bait down. Mussels make the best bait, and are in plentiful supply near the beach.
